ON THE NEED TO “SHAKE THINGS UP”

Ben discusses the demise of the San Francisco Giants, which can be traced back to the 2016 All-Star break. Since that time, the team has a 168-219 record, which is definitely not too small of a sample size to analyze! He addresses the specific failings — from top to bottom — of an organization that enjoyed so much success in the early part of the decade, and talks about how things can be turned around.

You did a terrific job. For the longest time I have advocated trading core players before they declined too much in order to rebuild. Madbum, as an example should be traded for useful high end projected minor league talent. They are going nowhere next year, Madbum is FA the following year so unless you wish to pay a starter at 32 or so for four years big bucks to watch hi, decline maximize your return now. But management seems more committed to nAme recognition players than to worrying about future. Nostalgia is nice for old timers games but not for everyday play.
